#2 - Presentation Tools & Screencasting Tools
1. The tool that I used for creation of embeddable presentation was Prezi(http://prezi.com/), which was a bit unfamiliar to me. It was entertaining and inspiring, though, as I were getting more indulged in trying different functions of it. Prezi is one of the powerful presentation tools that are nowadays getting popular among teachers and businessmen. Using Prezi, you can connect one idea to an another more organically. Also it wows your audience readily because jumping all over the page and zooming in and out are impossible with Powerpoint. Additionally,It is useful to show relationships between things more clearly. It is because not only can we see the whole picture but can locate where a small thing is. If I fully understand almost all the functions of Prezi, I will be using it during my class.
2. Using Prezi, I created one presentation for vocabulary learning to actually practice it in my language classroom. However, I'm quite a novice here that I feel the need to make some changes into it before implementing vocabulary teaching using the presentation.
In the presentation, I inserted a word definition in English and Korean with some pictures related to each word. After studying one word, a student diverts their attention naturally to the next word and picture.
This is a link to the presentation posted on my Google website. https://sites.google.com/site/acetrain21/
3. Since I'm far from being early adopters or trend setters, I'm usually uncomfortable with trying new technology. Yet, For the first time in my life, I found myself enjoying a new IT stuff. It was difficult in the first place, but as I got used to it, I was impressed by how fascinatingly Prezi can realize visual information. Therefore I'd like to recommend Prezi to teachers if they want to astonish their students with visual effects they haven't experience before. However, I would have enjoyed more using the tool if there was function of " animation", which enables a teacher to delay appearance of words or images. I couldn't find it, though.
4. I've seen some official training is going on for an efficient use of Prezi among teachers. It is also true that many teachers are showing lots of interest in it. Thus, we will eventually see that Prezi becomes prevalent in the EFL classroom. However, for the more extensive use of it, some functions that are only applicable for the paid users need to be open to the general users.
